The arrow points to one of the tallest building in Astoria. Four stories high and sitting on pilings in the river, the Columbia House condominiums offer incomparable views within a c. 1972 Soviet-style box.

Ten years later and even high up on the hill I'm awed by passing ships (this one's carrying cars) that are several times taller and every bit as long as downtown.
